Rook - is a heavy piece, approximately equivalent to 5 pawns, and two rooks are stronger than a queen. The rook can move any number of squares horizontally or vertically, provided that there are no pieces in its path. Elephant - can move to any number of squares diagonally, provided that there are no pieces in its path. Knight - moves two squares vertically and then one square horizontally, or vice versa, two squares horizontally and one square vertically. Thus, the movement of the horse resembles the capital letter "G" of the Cyrillic alphabet or the capital letter "L" of the Latin alphabet. A pawn moves only one space forward, except for a capture. From the starting position, the pawn can move either one or two squares forward. A pawn can capture any opponent's piece (except the king) that is one square diagonally ahead of it. The ultimate goal of each player is to checkmate their opponent. This means that the opponent's king gets into a situation in which a capture is inevitable. A chess game does not necessarily end in checkmate. Often players see their defeat and voluntarily give up beforehand. In addition, sometimes the game can end in a draw, the so-called "Stalemate". The players take turns. The player has the right to move one piece per move. If the piece you move ends its turn on a square occupied by an opponent's piece, then you can capture or "eat" the opponent's piece. To do this, you need to remove the opponent's piece from the board and put your piece on its field, which you moved. As soon as you make a move that results in the capture of your opponent's king, you win. This means "Checkmate" - a situation where the opponent has no other move left to save his king. In chess, you cannot make a move that immediately exposes your king to an immediate capture. You cannot go under "check".
